Semantic models leveraged by Copilot
Hi BindiyaThota ,
In Power BI, Copilot currently works at the report level, meaning it leverages the semantic model that is directly connected to the selected report. At this time, Copilot does not support querying across multiple semantic models simultaneously. When you select a report in a workspace backed by Fabric capacity, Copilot accesses the semantic model behind that specific report to generate insights or answer questions. If you need to reference data across multiple models, you'll either need to consolidate the data into a single semantic model or create a report that connects to a composite model designed to pull in data from different sources. Microsoft is continually expanding Copilot’s capabilities, so multi-model support may be introduced in future updates.
Hi BindiyaThota ,
Thank you lbendlin and rohit1991 for the accurate response!
Your responses accurately explains how Copilot currently works within Power BI, specifically at the report level, leveraging the semantic model connected to the selected report.
In addition to that, I would like to share the official documentation on how Copilot works with data in Power BI:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/copilot-ask-data-question
I hope this helps. If so, consider accepting it as solution.
Thank you for being a valued member in Microsoft Fabric Community Forum!
