Semantic model refreshed successfully but report is not showing updated data - (Service)

Hello Everyone,

I created a report in power bi desktop and published in a separate workspace in the power bi service. My data is coming from on-premise sql server and shapoint. My sales data is coming from sql server and my budget & forcast data coming from sharepoint. I have set up gateway successfully and also set up scheduled refresh successfully. The sales data from sql server and budget & forecast data from sharepoint gets refreshed successfully every week. The data is there, the schedule refresh pulling it perfectly and it is correct to the penny.

The problem is when I view the report, my budget and forecast column shows correct numbers. However, the sales column shows totally incorrect numbers. I used the option "Explore Data" from the ribbon the check if the data is missing or not. The data is there and correct. I also validated that by doing a simple query in the sql server. I used the tiny refresh button on the right corner to refresh my visuals in the report but it does not work. I'm using matrix visual to show sales vs budget vs forecast by product category.

What am I misssing? Or what am I not doing right?

To update the report, I have to reshresh from my desktop, then publish it in the workspace which then updates the report. I need to automate the whole process. Theoretically, if the semantic model gets updated then the report should get updated automatically.

I would really appreciate expert advice please. Cross posting in two forums. If that's against the rules, please let me know. I'll remove from one of the forums.

Hi,

I had this problem too. However, a hard refresh in the browser seemed to resolve it. Data is updated, as are the visuals.

Hi @syed_s ,

Change your visual from Matrix to table and capture the dax query with performance analyser and copy it.Later on connect to that semantic model XMLA endpoint from DAX studio and check whether it is pulling data correctly or not .If your workspace is non-premium then you can use run a query against dataset in power automate and see whether data is coming correctly or not.I hope it definitely helps you to identify whether the issue is with dataset or not.

Thanks,

Sai Teja

Hi @syed_s ,

We have seen on the internal platform that other engineers have reported this issue and submitted it.
The engineers on the product team are now aware and will do their best to resolve the issue. I will update here if there is any progress, so please be patient.

Best regards.

Has this been resolved, I am experiencing the same issue.  A report that has updated and loaded the new data correctly for the last year has suddently stoped showing the new data.

The refresh happens but the data in the service stays the same. If I update in desktop it updates.  I am having to manually update the model everyday and reload to the service.

Regards,

No solution yet! I was waiting on the May update but nothing. I contacted the support team by creating a ticket. It's been over two weeks back and forth, yet they want to do more tests on my pbix file. It's so frustrating. Their support team is in India, I'm in Canada, big time difference, on top of it the support team cannot send the ticket to the dev team coz they need more proof. Even distributing the report with the app distribution process causing issues now. I wish there was a way as a community to reach out to dev team or something. 😞

Hi @syed_s

I haven't even experienced this issue before. I would strongly suggest looking for any caching options or proxy servers which might be causing your issue!

Has there been any resolution to this? I am still having the same issue.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply! It's good to know that I'm not the ony one. Just wondering, until the issue resolves, is there any workaround for this? Except me publishing the whole thing everytime from the desktop app to the designated workspace? What would be your advice on this?

Kind Regrads,
Syed

Hi @syed_s

Could you please insure that your guideway is also allowed to refresh cloud that is hosted so that when the semantic model is refreshed, refreshed from SQL Server and from your Sharepoint?

This is what the setting looks like below.

Yes, this settings are all on. I tried with enterprise gateway setting up on a seprate computer which always stays on 24/7. I tried with personal gateway setting up on another computer which also stays on 24/7. Nothing worked. The data gets pulled from the sql server and the sharepoint, the data is there in the semantic model but the reports visuals (specially the colum in the matrix that has the data which is coming from the sql server) does not get updated.
