Semantic Model Rebinding Issue: Reports in Workspace B Still Linked to Workspace A

I have six reports that all use the same semantic model. I’m taking copies of these reports from Workspace A and publishing them into Workspace B. To do this, I download each .pbix file individually from Workspace A and then publish them one by one into Workspace B.

After publishing, the main report that contains the semantic model is published separately in Workspace B. However, the other five reports are still showing a live connection to the semantic model in Workspace A, instead of the one in Workspace B.

Another issue is that, since the connected reports use a live connection, I’m unable to modify or update any existing measures in them.

My goal is to make Workspace B an exact copy of Workspace A - meaning all six reports in Workspace B should point to a single semantic model within Workspace B, not Workspace A.

I believe you will need to relink the reports to the new semantic model in B.

After the semantic model in B is created, open each of the pbix files in power bi desktop, then click on OneLake catalog in the Home menu:

From here you should be able to select the new semantic model in workspace B, and everything will re-map inside this report.

Do this with all the reports for workspace B and you should be set.

If you found this helpful, consider giving some Kudos. If I answered your question or solved your problem, mark this post as the solution.
