Security trimming the datasets based on the currently logged in user

It would be great if we can security trim the datasets based on the logged in user or their roles. Is there are workaround / approach to achieve that using the REST APIs?

Yes Vivek,Nice idea, you are right and we almost have more than 20 suggested such improvement, lets vote for it.
