Scheduled Refresh Silently Failing

Hi all,

For the last few weeks I have been experiencing a strange Power BI problem.

I have 10 datasets that update on a scheduled refresh every morning. Power BI tells me they have successfully refreshed, but all dashboards are completely blank - editing any report shows that it is completely empty. However,r unning a manual refresh on the service works fine - and very quickly - as does a manual refresh and upload from the PBIX files. A minute or so after doing this the relevant dashboards re-populate with the data.

All of the datasets use a Personal Gateway. Sources are a MySQL database, and some reports access Google Analytics or local files. The files and the gateway are all hosted on an AWS virtual machine that is always running. I stagger the refresh times so I don't hit Power BI all at once and risk a timeout.

I have checked and updated credentials to all the files/ database/Analytics accounts and all are correct and working fine. Strangely, whenever I open the Datasets tab, this error message flashes quickly then goes away:

Error

I know this is not true because the Personal Gateway is running and has a status of 'online'. Besides, all manual refreshes work fine.

Power BI is convinced the refresh has worked - I am not getting any failure message or email notification, and the refresh history tells me everything has worked.

Any ideas why my dashboards are showing blank, or why this weird error flashes quickly then goes away?

Hi @TPTTRFR,

I also saw the same error flashes quickly then goes away when the dataset connects to a local file with personal gateway. But my dashboards/reports are working fine without the blank issue.

Could you try uninstalling your personal gateway, then install the new personal gateway from this link to see if the blank issue remains? Smiley Happy

Thanks for this -  uninstalling and reinstalling the Personal Gateway has fixed the problem. I'm glad it was an easy fix.
