Hello people,
I need your help.
I have a report with data source from databricks, and data gets refreshed in Databricks every evening.
How can I refresh it in PBI also?
Thanks!
Hi @ROG ,
Like Ibendlin said, you need a gateway.
The local data gateway acts as a bridge. It provides fast and secure data transfer between on-premises data (that is, data not in the cloud) and multiple Microsoft cloud services. These services include Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Analysis Services, and Azure Logic Apps.
By using a gateway, organizations can keep databases and other data sources on their local network while also making that local data securely available in cloud services.
So if you want to use the databricks data source on Power BI Service and refresh it, please configure a gateway first.
Please follow these steps:
1. Download and install the Power BI Standard Gateway. For detailed installation steps, you can click on the link below:
Install an on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Learn
2. Enter Power BI Service>>Click the small gear icon in the upper right corner>>Select "Manage connections and gateway">>Click "New" above the "Connections" tab to create a new connection>>Select Datarisks and enter the relevant credential information.
3. Enter your workspace, select the semantic model you want to refresh, and select settings.
4. Under "Gateway and cloud connections", select what you just configured to refresh.
If you want to learn more about gateways and refresh, please refer to the following documentation:
Use the on-premises data gateway app | Microsoft Learn
Add or remove a gateway data source - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Configure scheduled refresh - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
I would be grateful if you could provide details of the error if you still have no success after doing this.
You can also use Service Principal to refresh Power BI datasets and manage PATs by incorporating best practices.
