Salesforce connexion to Power Bi Service

hi i have just published a new report on PBI service. This report uses connexion with Salesforce Object. It works perfectly on PBI desktop. But on PBI service, impossible to set up a connexion. the weirdest is that i done that before this year and it was very easy. This previous connexion exists always (for another report) but impossible to use this for this new report.

for this new report, i'm asked to create a new connexion for Salesforce. So but in the screen to define the new connection, the fields "Authentifcation Method" and "Connexion Type" are disable. Usely i write respectively "Salesforce" and Oauth 2.0.

Somebody can help? thanks for advance

Hi @toussdev As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector, which pulls data directly from the SF objects API and has no problem when refreshing in the service. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

SALESFORCE-2.png

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

@toussdev

Seems to me like the source is connected already

You just need to add your credential and setup the refresh

Did you try to run On demand Refresh?

Also, can you show me the error message you receive when trying to refresh manually?

Dataflow is an online Power Query

aj1973_0-1704039703527.png

According to the screenshot you are not able to connect with your credentials

My guesing is that the report which is connected in the service is using a Service account to connect to Salesforce. Il faut verfier avec tes Admins Salesforce et Power BI Tenant.

The easiest way is to pull data into Power BI Desktop and publish it, but then you're stuck using a personal gateway for refreshes, which isn't great if more people need access.

Another route I've used is setting up an automated flow that moves Salesforce data into something like Azure SQL or BigQuery, and then Power BI connects there. Makes things more stable long-term. If you're looking for a no-code option, Skyvia is one tool that can handle this kind of sync - it lets you set up scheduled exports from Salesforce without much hassle.

@aj1973 i done yet that yesterday but it doesn't fix my problem.

and after = Source{[Name="Account"]}[Data]
