Salesforce connexion to Power Bi Service
hi i have just published a new report on PBI service. This report uses connexion with Salesforce Object. It works perfectly on PBI desktop. But on PBI service, impossible to set up a connexion. the weirdest is that i done that before this year and it was very easy. This previous connexion exists always (for another report) but impossible to use this for this new report.
for this new report, i'm asked to create a new connexion for Salesforce. So but in the screen to define the new connection, the fields "Authentifcation Method" and "Connexion Type" are disable. Usely i write respectively "Salesforce" and Oauth 2.0.
Somebody can help? thanks for advance

When you create a new connection wait for the page to render so you can actually enter something in the connection type field.
What made you use a gateway in the first place? Salesforce connections do not need a gateway unless you are trying to merge them with on-premise sources in Power Query (which you shouldn't do anyway).

i dont use a gateway for the salesforce connections. it's a cloud connection.

Hey guys,
I tested the connection my self and in my surprise I don't see the Salseforce connector in drop down list of the connection type
lbendlin I don't think toussdev is using a Gateway, he is trying the cloud connection and it seems that Salesforce is nor detected since it is not in the list !

Hi toussdev As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector, which pulls data directly from the SF objects API and has no problem when refreshing in the service. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
