Hello everyone,
I'm trying to use use SSO with Azure AD with direct query to ensure the right level of security
But once I open a report in direct query, it returns the following error message
Logging into Sql server failed. Possible reasons for this error include an invalid authentication mode, a missing login in Sql server, a login from an untrusted domain or a problem contacting the domain controller for the authentication request
If untick SSO with Azure AD, everything works perfectly, so my GW is well configured.
Any idea in which direction dig to fix that?
Many thanks in advance for your help
Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on your own description, I think first you need to make sure that SQL Server is configured to support Azure AD authentication. SQL Server must be set up to accept Azure AD authentication for SSO to work properly. You can refer to this document below: Configure Microsoft Entra authentication - Azure SQL Database & SQL Managed Instance & Azure Synapse Analytics | Microsoft Learn
I also noticed that the error message mentions a login name from an untrusted domain. Make sure that the domain of the user account is trusted by SQL Server. Similarly, confirm that the user attempting to access the report via DirectQuery is properly mapped in SQL Server with the appropriate permissions.
