Hello,
I've created a file with Power BI Desktop using a DirectQuery to an Azure SQL Database. I uploaded this pbix to Power BI Services then reconfigured the credentials for the database and the reports. When navigating to the report or interactingwith it, I indeed have live queriesand receive the last data but if I let the report and don't interact with it, there is no automatic refresh of this report. To have a refresh of the report I need to pres the refresh button or navigate to another page and come back. More, if I create a tile, it's never refreshed.
Is it the expected behaviour or I'm missing something? Thx
Solved! Go to Solution.
This is the expected behaviour. The direct connections sends live queries and retrieve data when you interact with visuals. The reports don't refresh automatically with new data. For this you need to push data into powerbi with APIs.
The tiles refresh in a ten minute interval moreless. Sometimes you need to refresh the browser , keeps the cashed data

Having to refresh the browser is an issue. I'd like to display direct connect data on TVs around the office. I can't effectively do this unless the dashboards refresh on their own. If I set up the browser to auto-refresh (ex. Google Chrome Revolver extension), I can't use the full screen mode, which is a shame.
Any thoughts on better ways to query/display live data?
Correct me, if I am wrong, but I have seen videos where streaming data is displayed in a dashboard tile and gets automatically updated. I think it was the demo about the toll bridge in New York (?).
I believe you're correct. Good point
