SAP Business Warehouse: The memory request for 113337674 bytes could not be complied with.

Hello,

Recently I have been getting these errors on some dataflows that takes SAP BW as datasrouce.

Anyone can help/explain or have had the same issue before ?

Hi , @MAwwad

I don't think upgrading the premium capacity SKU from P1 to P2 will be useful for the issue solution, this is because that the error message given is regarding the memory consumption too large to exceed the limit of SAP BW side. So we may need to focus on the troubleshooting in the data source SAP BW side, you may try these methods to reduce the data amounts returned for a single query that Power BI sends:

1.You can consider reduce/filter the columns/rows for each query within your dataflow, filter out the useless columns and data

2.You can consider using the incremental refresh to split the data to many partitions instead of one single partition to make sure each query can successfully run:
Using incremental refresh with dataflows - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

3.You can turn to the SAP BW admin colleague to check if we can upgrade the limitation of the maximum data amount for each query in SAP BW side

Thank you for your time and sharing, and thank you for your support and understanding of PowerBI!

Hi , @MAwwad

Based on your error message provided, the error message; "SAP Business Warehouse: The memory request for 113337674 bytes could not be complied with" comes from the main scope of SAP BW, it means we got the error code from the data source SAP BW side instead of any error message given from Power BI side. And the error message given is regarding the memory consumption too large to exceed the limit of SAP BW side. If convenient, you may try these methods to reduce the data amounts returned for a single query that Power BI sends:

1.You can consider reduce/filter the columns/rows for each query within your dataflow, filter out the useless columns and data

2.You can consider using the incremental refresh to split the data to many partitions instead of one single partition to make sure each query can successfully run

3.You can turn to the SAP BW admin colleague to check if we can upgrade the limitation of the maximum data amount for each query in SAP BW side

Thanks for your reply.

We currently have Premium Content License of P1.

Does upgrading the capacity helps in this case or not related ?
