Row level security in power bi service

I have applied dynamic @rls on data using userprincipalname(). On desktop 'view as' works perfectly fine. However in service there are some problems. For some users 'test view' in service works and for some who on desktop have correct view in service result is BLANK instead correct data.As a test I have created visual card which show userprincipal name and it shows correct user while testing on service. The problem with Blank data disappears when I change userpricipal info particular static email

Hi, @AgnieszkaRys

You can first check whether the corresponding viewer is given permission, and you need to ensure that there is no edit permission, otherwise the RLS will be invalidated.

Then you can also validate the role within the Power BI service to test :

Hi AgniezkaRys. The only thing I think right now is to check if that those users have the role asigned in the security settings of the dataset at Power Bi Service. Be sure to check that.

I hope that helps,

  • Hi ibarrau. They are assigned in the security settings of the dataset. So this is not the issue 😞
