Row level security RSL in Paginated Reports setting

Hi, All

I having issue on setting RSL in paginated Reports setting.

I import dataset from powerbi semantic model and select the columns I want.

In powerBI report, I using email column = USERPRINCIPALNAME() for RLS setting.

When built the table in paginated report, I just select the column I want. Setting the filters in dataset properties

After publish to powerBI service, I insert paginated report into PowerBI and publish my power BI report in workplace.

but RLS setting didn;t work when I test RLS setting as role when view pagianted report page?

Is there anythings I miss out ?

Thank you for help

  • Hi,

    1. RLS in Power BI Service: Ensure that RLS is applied to the dataset when it's published to the service, not just in Power BI Desktop.

    2. Paginated Reports and RLS: Paginated reports don’t directly support RLS. Make sure the dataset with RLS is correctly linked when embedding it into the paginated report.

    3. Role Testing: After publishing, use the "View As Role" feature in Power BI Service to ensure the RLS works as expected.

    4. Filters: Double-check that any filters in the paginated report's dataset aren’t conflicting with the RLS.

    Hi Chong6823 ,

Thanks for the quick reply rohit1991 , I have some other thoughts to add:

Referring to this document, the “Test as Role”/“View as Role” functionality is not available for paged reports due to limitations.
