Resources Exceeded

Hi all, I have this error message in some pages after publishing reports.

Resources Exceeded

This visual has exceeded the available resources. Try filtering to decrease the amount of data displayed.

The XML for Analysis request timed out before it was completed. Timeout value: 225 sec.

I was wondering if i can use one of below methods to sovle the issue without changing filter or dax.

1. Increase Timeout value. It says 225 sec but i already increased timeout value in Power Query M to 1 hour as refresh kept failing. I'm not sure if that timeout limit can be changed as well.

2. Would it be helpful if I configure incremental refresh?

3. I'm the only one in the company with Preminum per User license. So the reports are published in Pro workspace. If I upgrade their license to PPU, how much resource can the server handle?

Thanks & Regards

Hi, @evebarratt

Have you checked the size of your .pbix file?

The 225 seconds here is meaningless, probably just a predetermined value in the error message. No one knows the exact timeout value.

Frankly, the error message is too general, I can only suggest that you optimise all queries on all visuals and the whole model. Please check Troubleshooting tile errors  for more detail.

This visual has exceeded the available resources. Try filtering to decrease the amount of data displayed.

Your visual has attempted to query too much data for us to complete the result with the available resources. Try filtering the visual to reduce the amount of data in the result.

If you're an administrator of your Power BI tenant, you can also open a support ticket to get further help.
