I have a dataset that is set to schedule refresh, but it keeps failing with the following error:
Resource Governing: This operation was canceled because there wasn’t enough memory to finish running it.
Either increase the memory of the Premium capacity where this dataset is hosted
or reduce the memory footprint of your dataset by doing things like limiting the amount of imported data.
More details: consumed memory MB, memory limit MB, database size before command execution MB.

I have limited the amount of imported data as much as possible, and the dataset size is about 1/7th of the size of some of my other datasets, and these other datasets refresh fine. Could there be an issue with some of my visuals and DAX commands in the report - would these affect the schedule refresh of the dataset? The report can be refreshed on my local machine with no issues.
I can send the report with sample data over via private message if that is useful.
Thank you!
Hi, @oliverblane
For a full refresh, recall that at least double the current dataset memory size is required. If sufficient memory is not available, then the refresh cannot commence until model eviction frees up memory - this means delays until one or more datasets becomes inactive and can be evicted.
You can try the following methods to solve the problem.
Here are the relevant documents, hope it can help you.

Please note that if there are other datasets in memory at the time it's also taken into consideration. Look at the capacity metrics application from powerbi apps store and install it for your capacity. there you should be able to see all that is impacting your capacity's memory.
Hi @luisrh, thanks for your reply.
I have downloaded the app, but I never seem to go above the CPU limit:
There are also no overload minutes for the dashboard that is failing. Is there something else I should be looking at?
This happens when your dataset require more memory than available memory in the premium capacity, as you have reduced the size of your dataset thus it is refreshing fine now.
You can refer Data reduction techniques for Import modeling - Power BI | Microsoft Docs to reduce your dataset size
Hi @arvindsingh802, sorry if I did not make myself clear - the dataset is not refreshing fine, despite being 1/7th of the size of the other datasets that do refresh fine.
Have you tried refreshing different time ?
Also share the current Premium capacity details and dataset size
Hi @arvindsingh802, thank you for your reply.
The capacity has 3GB of memory, and the dataset is 11MB according to Power BI service.
Please do let me know if there are any other specific details that I can provide, or if you would like me to share the pbix file with you.
