Request for Microsoft Fabric Expert Guidance & Architecture Review (Lakehouse + Dataflow Gen1 → Gen2

Hi Team,

We are in the process of adopting Microsoft Fabric for our enterprise reporting platform and would like to request direct guidance from Fabric experts or a Microsoft team member for an architectural review and migration strategy.

Current Situation

  • Our data currently resides in SQL Server, consumed through Power BI Dataflows Gen1 and transformed into datasets used by multiple Power BI reports.

  • Reports are hosted in a Premium (Embedded) workspace and embedded into a custom web portal for our clients.

  • We serve multiple clients, each with separate data access requirements.

  • However, clients increasingly want to explore their data directly inside Fabric, which introduces security and architecture challenges around multi-tenant isolation.

What We Are Transitioning To

We are planning to:

  • Implement a Fabric Lakehouse architecture (OneLake, Medallion layers).

  • Migrate Dataflows Gen1 → Dataflows Gen2 as part of this transformation.

  • Rebuild semantic models on Fabric Lakehouse (Gold layer).

  • Implement strong row-level and workspace-level isolation so that each client (e.g., Inspire vs. Systems Link) can only access their own data within Fabric.

  • Continue supporting embedded Power BI experiences in our custom application.

What We Need Help With

We are looking for a direct architecture consultation call to validate and define:

  1. Recommended Fabric architecture for our multi-client environment

  2. Best approach for secure client isolation (separate lakehouses vs. unified + RLS)

  3. Migration plan for Dataflows Gen1 → Gen2

  4. Workspace, lakehouse, and semantic model organization

  5. Governance, licensing, and deployment best practices

  6. Embedding considerations once Fabric lakehouse & Dataflow Gen2 are adopted

Request

Could a Microsoft Fabric expert or community specialist connect with us for a direct call / technical session to review our architecture and guide us through this transition?

We want to ensure our move to Fabric is aligned with Microsoft best practices—especially around security, multi-tenant data isolation, and Gen1→Gen2 migration.

Thank you in advance for your support!
Looking forward to any contact details, booking links, or Microsoft teams who can assist.

Thanks!

Hi @sivarajan21 ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you @GilbertQ @djurecic for the prompt response.

Use separate workspaces and lakehouses per client for the safest multi-tenant setup in Fabric.
Migrate Dataflows Gen1 --> Gen2 by loading data into Bronze/Silver/Gold Lakehouse layers and rebuilding semantic models on the Gold layer.A shared Lakehouse with RLS is possible, but not ideal for external clients.
For expert help, you can request a Fabric architecture review through your Microsoft Account Team,or a Fabric-certified partner as suggested by @djurecic.Embedding continues to work normally with this architecture.

Hi @v-venuppu ,

Could you please arrange for Microsoft expert help ?
How to achieve that? still problem is not resolved as there are some issue while migrating Dataflow from gen1 to gen 2 that could only be understood and resolved by an expert?

Thanks in advance!
