Report owner in Power BI App

Hi,

I am trying to change the Owner displayed in the drop-down list of a report when the new look is switched on, when viewing a report in an app. When viewing the same report directly from the workspace, the label says "Contact" but in the app it says "Owner" so it is clearly a different property.

Therefore, changing the contact property in report settings (on the report tab in the workspace) doesn't change the owner information. Neither does changing the contact list property for the workspace.

The workspace was created using "Upgraded workspace" so no corresponding Office365 group exists (for modifying owner/member via outlook). Looking at older posts I could ask the business owner who should show up as owner to (re-)save the PBIX file and publish it to the workspace, but I was hoping that the recently added features to the service would help me avoid this.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

HI @riwer,

I guess this owner property may be related to report dataset owner, you can try to use other accounts to take ownership of corresponding datasets to confirm if this property changes.

In addition, you can also try to configure app ownership on azure portal:

HI @riwer,

Have you tested with a neutral new version workspace? If this issue only appears on upgrade workspace, I think it should more relate to upgrading operations. (old property not migrated to new property correctly)

Maybe you can contact to power bi team to check the backend prototypes,

Hi Xiaoxin Sheng,

Thanks a lot for the reply. What I meant was that the workspace was created from scratch (not upgraded in the proper sense from an older workspace), but using the enhanced "upgraded" features on creation.

Apologies if I was a bit unclear on this point in my original post!

Thanks!
