Report not working on service

My report works fine on desktop, bit I'm getting the error below on service.

Unable to connect to the SQL Server data source A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server..... Either the data source is inaccessible, a network connection could not be established, or the data source credentials are invalid. Please verify the data source configuration on the Dataset settings page and contact a data source administrator to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks!

Hi. Is this an onpremise SQL Server? or cloud one? the error says there is an issue getting data. The PowerBi Service can't get the data. This can be because you have a cloud SQL Server with wrong credentials at service (you can edit them in the semantic model settings) or you need to use an onpremise data gateway (add the sql server source and credentials as configuration). There are many posts explaining how to set up the gateway for the first time in case of an on premise SQL Server.

I hope that helps,

Hi @ROG,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

The error suggests a connection issue between the Power BI Service and your SQL Server.

Ensure that the SQL Server credentials in the Power BI Service are correct, and verify that the On-Premises Data Gateway, if used, is properly installed and configured.
