Report description missing from details

Hi,

I set a description in the report settings, but when I open the report details I only see

Report name

Location

Page name

Contact

Data updated

Is there a way to get the report description in the report details? Where can I see the report description outside of the settings?

Hi @JDDS14

The Report Description in Power BI is not visible in the report details outside the settings.

  1. Add the description as a text box or create a "Welcome" page in the report.
  2. Use external documentation like SharePoint or Teams.
  3. Retrieve the description using the Power BI REST API for display elsewhere.

For now, descriptions are mainly for internal reference.

Hi @JDDS14 ,

You can use the following REST API to return information about a specific report in a specific workspace. This includes the report's description information (if the description is available).
Reports - Get Report In Group - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn
