Report cannot access Dataset with Guest (gmail) account

We want to be able to publish all reports to external Guest users.

Error message: This report couldn't access the data source. Contact <developer>, the author, to have it fixed.


The report works for users within the organization but not when we add external Guests.


* Guest has Pro license within the Azure tenant hosting the Report.
* Mapping Gmail login name to UPN in Azure has been tested.
* We have accepted all settings for external guest sharing in PowerBI Admin.
* The guest is able to see all the reports but the data source is not accessible.

* We have tried to set the Guest as "Owner" of the data source.
* All sharing permissions available for the Guest user have been tested from the Report creator.

 

The report is using a On-premises Gateway with SSAS.

I am stuck, please help :'D!

    Hi, Anonymous 

     

    Did you log in powerbi with a gmail account? Did you map user name in the dataset of powerbi service? Please check it.

      Hi v-janeyg-msft 

      Yes we have mapped the gmail account, is there any examples of how this is done so we can verify that we did it correctly?

      It should now be configured [email protected] > account that has access to on-prem data.

        Hi, Anonymous 

         

        If you user ssas, You need to map user name in powerbi service. I don’t know how you operate on azure, but you have to complete this before you can share it with others.

        Homepage>>gateway>>date source setting>>user>>map user nsmes

    Hi Anonymous 

     

    Can you confirm that the user has the build permissions on the dataset?

     

    And can you make sure that the user gets through to the SSAS server using SQL profiler?

      Can Build permission be avoided or is it a must?
      We want Guest users to be as limited as possible within the report.

        Build permissions have been added to the Guest account without success, still same error message.
