Hi, I had a data model that was published into services. This data model is link into a report template. There were reports created using this tamplate. Then I updated the data model with some changes and created a new data model (to eliminate some tabel duplication). I pointed the reports to new data model and pulished them to the servies. Now I have two reorts same name in the services. Only thing I change in the report is data source from Edit Queries (see image below). Is there anyway to stop this happening as I have about 50 differnt reoprts and about 30 related dashboards.
Hi @amaleranda,
If I understand your sceanrio correctly that you create many reports from a template pbix file by changing data source and publish them to Power BI Service?
If it is, I'm a little confused that if you update the data model from the template file and publish it to Service, it will need you to save it with typing in a file name then publish it to Service every time.
So how dou you get the same name in Power BI Service.
Could you specify your scenario in more details?
Maybe I miss something?
Best Regards,
Cherry
Hi Cherry,
Thanks lot for the reply.
I was confused myself with the senario and wouldn't have expain the issue clearly in my initial post.
The issue was we had couple of duplicate tables in our data model. say instance, TableA - Type1 and Same TableA - Type2. This duplication was realated to database schema. We fix the scheam issue and remove all the duplicate tables from the model. All I wanted was point the new data model to the alredy built reports that were published in the services. Since we had to rename the data model, everytime I publish report would duplicate since it is pointing to a new data model. We had no options other than deleting the repots that are pointed to the old data model.
Anayway tedious work has been completed.
