Rename individual servers of gateway cluster

I know I can rename the cluster itself in the Power BI service under manage gateways, but how can I rename individual servers that are part of a gateway cluster?

Hi @Anonymous ,

There is a submitted idea: To be able to rename an existing connection on On-Premisis Data Gateway

If you also want this in power bi, let the power bi community to know this things and give your votes at power bi site's feedback——https://ideas.powerbi.com/ideas/

Too bad that something simple like renaming is not yet possible. I will submit n idea soon and post the URL for voting here.

You can rename a gateway member using the powershell cmdlet Set-OnPremisesDataGateway, for example: Set-OnPremisesDataGateway -ClusterObjectID XXXX -GatewayObjectID YYYY -Name "NewName"

Please see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/gateway/service-gateway-powershell-support

Hope this is not too late for you

Thank you for this, really helped to fix incorrectly named cluster nodes/gateways.

Hi @Anonymous ,

To my knowledge, It is unavailable to rename an exsiting enterprise gateway currently. The name of data gateway is determined when you install the gateway. To add new gateway members to a gateway cluster, see Add another gateway to create a cluster.

You would need to re-install gateway to get new gateway name in  the machine.
