Refresh semantic model containing Python scripts

Hello community,

We are trying to work with a Report that contains tables created using Python scripts, as we are getting them from an API. We face the problem when trying to refresh the semantic model in the service. We've heard that is not supported, or that maybe we can use a personal gateway.

Any experience with it, or alternative options?

Thanks for you time and help 🙂

thanks for your reply. Do I need to do something else aside from that? I have my on-prem gateway installed and selected in connections of the semantic model. The report combines dataflows and the python code.

It's not working unfortunately.

Hi @Victormar ,

In the above scenario, we can achieve this only through Gateway

The data needs access to Python for visuals to be updated. The other steps are the following steps:

Enable scheduled refresh for the dataset. To enable scheduled refresh for the workbook that contains your dataset with Python scripts, see Configuring scheduled refresh, which also includes information about Personal Gateway.

Install the Personal Gateway. You need a Personal Gateway installed on the machine where the file is located, and where Python is installed. The Power BI service must access that workbook and re-render any updated visuals. For more information, see install and configure Personal Gateway.
