Refresh failed for specific users - Column does not exist in the rowset

Hi,

I have published a report to a workspace to share it amongst my colleagues and the dataset has a number of sources that include multiple csv files held in a central file share repository and an external CRM. All of my colleagues are able to manually refresh the dataset through the BI Service but two people cannot. 

Both of these people get an error that states the 'Column does not exist in the rowset'.  Everyone looks to have the same permissions to the data sources. I have also reinstalled the data gateway on the affected user's machines and re-entered the data source credentials but this hasn't made any difference. I would appreciate any advice for further troubleshooting.

that does make sense to me and something we will look at seeing as every user does have a personal gateway installed.  Is a personal gateway configuraton a likely source of this issue for the two affected users?

A personal gateway requires each user have all necessary permissions to the data source, which is impossible to manage as more users get access to the report, so the permissions of those users would need to be checked and any difference could cause them an issue.

You should only have 1 gateway, an Enterprise gateway, not personal. You set up the credentials 1 time and it doesn't matter if the users even have access to the source data, the refresh will work because you have authorized them to use your gateway. Setting up dozens of personal gateways is a recipie for disaster, and I recommend companies disable the ability to create personal gateways for this reason.

You just need access to the Power Platform admin center (microsoft.com) and have the Power Platform Admin role in the Office 365 environment to configure.
