Refresh error: Information is needed in order to combine data.

Hi,

 

I am getting an error while refreshing the dashboard in power bi service. My data source includes dataflows, semnatic models from otherworkspace, API call and sharepoint online,

When I set provacy level to "None " I get error  :

Information is needed in order to combine data. Please specify a privacy level for each data source.;Information about a data source is required.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface

After this I changed the privacy level to "Organisational for all data sources listed above and then error change to this :

I tried different Permutation and combination for settimgs privacy level and authentication method, but nothing has worked out. Can anyone pls help here?

In your data transformations you might have combined (merge or append) data taken from different sources.

For example: Merging the query imported from a dataflow with the query imported from sharepoint. 

When you are doing such operations make sure you set the privacy level correctly, these are the guidelines for setting privacy levels

My reommendation to you is, to set the privacy levels of all your data source connections to 'Organizational'.

Open your dataset set settings, expand data source credentails, edit the credentails and change the privacy level. 

 

Then try to refresh the dataset again. 

 

Please do note that setting the privacy level in the desktop will not update the privacy level of the datasource connection you created in the power bi service. So, update the credentails in power bi service not in the power bi desktop. (updating the privacy in desktop and re publishing to the service will not help)
