Refresh Restrictions
Help me understand why Power BI is limited to 8 refreshes per day or 48 on Premium capacity, when every other BI tool can refresh much more frequently with zero added cost?
Tableau, Sigma, Looker do not charge extra and there are not limitations on refreshes- performance is simply dependent on your data warehouse.
Why is there no option in Power BI to leverage SSAS models/Azure as the resource for the refreshes?

Hi. The thing is comparing tools will always have difference. This comparision can only be done with tools that can import data. If they can't it's just direct query and you don't need refreshes.
Consider two things, if you use Analysis Services there are no restrictions to the amount of refreshes. If you use Power Bi Rest API with Premium, again no restrictions with refreshes. However if you have an imported model that needs more than 48 refreshes a day.... then I would guess you shouldn't import that and it might be a different scenario. You really need to make sure it make sense to do it and it's not just a brat decision of the end user. For example: If your data warehouse refreshes twice a day, why would you refresh power bi 48 times.
I hope that helps,
