Refresh Report in Power BI Service from Excel file saved locally
Hi All,
I'm new to Power BI. First, i created a file on Power BI desktop by importing data from Excel file saved locally on my device. Then after working on the visuals, i published it to the Power BI Service and shared it with my colleagues. I have several queries on this regard.
1. If i make changes to the visuals in the desktop or add a new page will a simple refresh change it in Power BI service also or do i have re-publish it again?
2. Can someone give me a clear instruction on how refresh works as a whole? My schedule refresh button is greyed out.

Hi, Madhumitha_Mano
According to your description, If you make changes to a visualization or add a new page in Power BI Desktop, you need to republish the report to Power BI Service to see the changes reflected in it. A simple refresh will not update the report in Power BI Service.
Regarding the configuration of schedule refresh, a gateway needs to be installed to connect to the data source, where you can select the appropriate gateway according to your needs. For more detailed information please refer to the following official documents.Related links:
