Refresh PBI with Power Automate

Hello, I have two datasets. First dataset is from Big Query (import mode, not DirectQuery). Second dataset is located on Sharepoint site in excel format. I created a button. Button executes flow:

However, when I click button, my table visualisation is not updated:

I want to make comment field to be dynamically updated. Why the report is not refreshed? I am unable to see comments which I add.

  • Hi alks_skla_f

In the refresh history can you also check under OneDrive tab also - believing the comments are getting saved to excel file in sharepoint.

    Hi alks_skla_f,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Unfortunately, power bi does not support live refresh or auto-updating visuals after a backend refresh when using Import Mode.

Even though the Power Automate flow successfully triggers the dataset refresh, the power bi report will still display cached data unless the user manually reloads the report page. This means newly added comments will not appear in the table visual until the report is reloaded after the refresh completes.

    • So wait for 30 to 60 seconds for the refresh to complete in the backend and then refresh the power bi report manually, this will make the comments appear.

If real time updates are required, please consider using a DirectQuery setup instead of import mode.

Hello, thank you very much for your answer, but even this solution does not work for me. I wait for 1 minute, after I refresh the web page and comments still don't appear... any ides why?

    Hi alks_skla_f

After submitting the canvas form the page usually won't refresh as it's own. But you can add page refresh from the page configurations of Power BI to be executed every 5 mins or so. Additionally, if your form is getting submitted to the SharePoint excel then it should be updated in a while (from settings look at the refresh history, under onedrive if the file is getting refreshed after you submit). If it is from big query, then after inserting the data to the bigquery, add a step in the flow to initiate the dataset refresh after a short period of the time then data should be available back to your dataset and visual.

  • I still don't see new comments after successful refresh. How is it possible?
