Refresh Failed: DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError

Hi all,

I hope you are doing well.

Since last week, the semantic model fails to refresh. I get the following error:

{"error":{"code":"DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError","pbi.error":{"code":"DMTS_OAuthTokenRefreshFailedError","details":[{"code":"DM_ErrorDetailNameCode_UnderlyingErrorMessage","detail":{"type":1,"value":"AADSTS700082: The refresh token has expired due to inactivity. The token was issued on 2024-01-26T13:32:57.2977360Z and was inactive for 90.00:00:00. Trace ID: 30fc7a68-c0a8-4970-8144-4bba9dda1e00 Correlation ID: 96eb0a13-9a2b-488b-8557-923c3f03743c Timestamp: 2024-07-29 11:10:46Z"}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}} Table:

I have already tried to update the credentials, but that doesn't work either. There I get the following error:

Cannot test the connection to your data source. Please run your credentials again.

Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this? Do I need to renew the token? If so, how?

I am not very experienced in Fabric myself yet, so please keep it simple.

Hi, @WesleyvB

I am glad to help you.

According to your description, you are mainly trying to solve the problem of data source connection failure which leads to refresh failure?

If I understand you correctly, then you can refer to my solution.

First, you can open the corresponding .pbix file in Power BI Desktop, and then click Edit Permission to modify the Privacy Level. Sometimes Privacy Level can also affect the data source connection error.

You can also check whether the corresponding gateway you are using is working properly. If the gateway is offline, log in.

If it is working, you can try to update the credentials:

And you can also check if your gateway version is at the latest version. If not you can update to the latest version:

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
Best Regards,

You helped me to solve my Auth issues today. Thanks!

Hi Fen Ling,

Thank you for your response.

You are right. I am indeed trying to reconnect it to the data source so I can refresh the data again. In fact, it also says that my Lakehouse is offline.

All the steps you have listed I have tried but still something is not going right. When I want to update my credentials in the gateway settings I still get an error:

Translation:
Cannot update connection credentials.
We do not have access to the data source. Please verify that you are authorized and have access to the data source and that your credentials are correct.

In addition, I am also curious how to update the gateway. Can you show how to get to that screen?

Thank you very much.

Regards.

Hi, @WesleyvB

You need to make sure the gateway is working first. This is an Application and you will need to download and install the gateway Application you need:

Install an on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Learn

Then open the Application:

If there is a new version available, it will prompt you on the Application page.

vfenlingmsft_3-1722418751061.png

Then in Power BI Service click on Settings (gear button) and then select 'Manage Connections and gateways' to go to the gateway management screen.

You will need to check that the gateway connection you are using is online before you can go and change the credentials, and in the meantime you will want to make sure that the credentials you have entered are correct.

Hi Fen Ling,

I do not have any on-premise gateways. Mine are all in the cloud, so does this apply to my case?

Regards.
