RLS

Hello, I have created Roles using USERNAMEPRINCIPAL() on my desktop, and each time I run test on PowerBI desktop (View As Role) its working.

However when I publish it to the workspace, It doesnt work ! the user still can see other values.

@Anonymous  - Just wanted to confirm whether you have added the users to the RLS role 🙂 Assuming, the user only has 'Viewer' access to the workspace.

Lastly, are you using USERPRINCIPALNAME ()  or  USERPRINCIPAL() ?

USERPRINCIPALNAME()

I managed to solve it, the users that I am granting roles to, are also Members of the Workspace so the permission of the workspace is superiour to the RLS role permission so they can check the data.

I removed them from workspace permission and it worked perfectly, Thanks a lot for your interference and sorry dont take me wrong 🙂

@Anonymous  - Have you added the users or AD groups to the RLS role in Power BI service?

Click on the dots in the dataset and go to security. Add the Users or AD groups to the role.

Hello Thanks for your answers but thats extremly basic, ofcourse I have added them to the RLS on PowerBI service.

My issue is that although I added them, they can still see all the data, not only the data assigned to their role.

Thanks again 🙂
