RLS, shared dataset in and embedded report

Hi Everyone,

I have an existing Power BI project that has all reports and data set in one file.

This is published in Power BI embedded as a Tenanted report using USERNAME() to get the tenant details.

I'd like to split the dataset into a separate pbix file build a collection of files with targets reports using this dataset.

I've separated the dataset with is RLS, but when I connect to it as a PowerBI data set but the Modelling isn't available.

My question is will the RLS security work through the Power BI dataset?

Yes. Even if your project only contains dataset configured with RLS, people without permissions cannot edit the dataset.

Alternatively, you can use this connector if you want to reuse the dataset in the project to create a new project.
