RLS on Semantic model or Warehouse
Hello Everyone,
Can anyone suggest when to use RLS on warehouse and when to use RLS on semantic model.

Srisakthi
Hi. It will depend on the audience you want to apply RLS. When you just want them to view reports with security, then it can be done in both of them. I would probably prefer semantic model because those aims to smaller audiences with specific data projects and dashboards.
The thing is when you are thinking about self service. Then the difference is higher. Depending on the expertise of the users or the decision of how much flexibility you want to give the builders. Users with access to warehouse can build views or complex queries to deep a lot more than just build reports or analyze data. Users with access to semantic model will probably know about visualizations and curiosity of explore in their specific scenario a number analysis.
Warehouse rls could be also usufull for a multi tenant scenario. You could give access to other tenants and keep a great security.
I hope that helps,
