RLS on Dashboards

Hi,

I'm trying to understand if RLS is possible on power bi dashboards? I hooked in a few visuals from various datasets, but when viewing as my dummy account, i can see everything rather than just the data i should be able to see per reports. Looking at past threads there seems to be a lot of disagreement whether this should be the case.

I can limit the dashboard manually through filters, but then users seem to be able to go to focus mode and change the filters on each visual themselves. I cant change which filters are viewable on focus mode, and I cant hide focus mode.

If all of these are true, I dont really understand the use case for dashboards - they seem to be so limited that they're almost useless

    Hi Anonymous ,

RLS is supported on Dashboard. The thing that you have to know is that instead of using the USERNAME() DAX function in Power BI Desktop you have to hardcode this with the user's UPN (User Principal Name) that you want to test it with. When you do it in this way you can see if you are getting the desired output.

For more you can refer to :Power BI – Dynamic Row Level Security – Things you need to know to get it working!

In the threads mentioned in this article, the forum experts explain it very well, I hope it will be helpful for you.

Is this Possible for RLS in Dashboard?
