RLS in Fabric
Hi,
How is Row Level Security set up in Fabric using a Lakehouse and Dataset? When editing the dataset, the option for managing roles on the toolbar is disabled. In theory, I could create a report based on the dataset, export it from the service and set up RLS in the Desktop app, then republish the report and underlying dataset. Is this the only way to do it, or can it be done via the Fabric web interfaces?
Thanks.

Hi. In some way, there is no change on the way RLS works. RLS is configured at PowerBi desktop for an imported data model or a Direct Query one. You open desktop, get data and configure RLS.
If you create a dataset from a Lakehouse at service, then you are using Direct Lake. That means the connection goes directly from the model to the lakehouse. There are limitations of Direct Lake in Public Preview:
- Some limitations of Direct Lake in its current Public Preview state include the inability to create row-level security and the limitation that RLS automatically switches the table to Direct Query mode. These limitations are expected to be addressed in the future.
I hope that helps

Hello
Any idea if these limitations are addressed in Fabric now?
