RLS for Power BI on Fabric with Semantic Models in Direct Lake mode

Hello,

  1. I've created a semantic model on Fabric working on Direct Lake mode.
  2. I've created a new report on Power BI Desktop taking this new semantic model as source, so the connection mode is Live Connection (because Direct lake is not supported yet for PBI Desktop).
  3. I've published the report into Fabric, so when I open the report online on Fabric the connection mode is Direct Lake (on Fabric Direct Lake is supported). I need PBI Desktop to edit reports, and Power BI Service on Fabric to share the reports with users (always as viewer mode for accessing data) .

My problem:

I'm trying to use RLS for this semantic model, but when entering the security menu for the semantic model, it shows this banner: "RLS has moved to Power BI Desktop Any previously defined RLS security is no longer working. You will need to re-create RLS in Power BI Desktop. In the Power BI Service, you can add members to roles you create."

There's no longer support for RLS in direct lake semantic models in PBI Service in Fabric? or is there some configuration step I'm missing? This RLS has to be configured for users accesing report through Power BI Service in Fabric. I guess if I configure RLS through Power BI Desktop as warning message says this is not going to work.

Thanks in advance!

Microsoft is still working on this feature for Desktop. The suggestion is to use something like Tabular Editor to implement the RLS. Sorry this is not an optimal solution.
