Question over licence by capacity

Hello

i have a question over licence by capacity :  we  paid by hour spend

Do you know how it's calculated the hour used by user and developper ?

For example , if i open a powerbi report with import data and used it by changed values in segment panel during 1hour
is this hour in the bill of the licence by capacity ?

Same QUestion with user with no licence using powerbi report shared with us

the time passed by these users are in the bill of the licence by capacity ?

In facts , what we paid with the licence by capaciy  is it time spend to  import data in  powerbi , time spend to refresh powerbi data with directquery and  direct lake connection  ,  and time spend  in fabrics experience running ( dataflow,  data pipeline , transac SQL stored in  datawarehouse)?

Thanks

best regards

Ludovic

  • Hi ludovicLaurent

Very simply put, is as long as the capacity is running, whether you are using it or not, you are paying.

    Hi ludovicLaurent ,

The billing is based on the capacity you purchase (A1.A2,A3 etc.)and not directly on the hours spent by individual users. The capacity includes a certain amount of resources (CPU, memory, etc.) that are available for your organization to use.The total cost of Power BI Embedded depends on the node type chosen and the number of nodes deployed.

Pricing - Power BI Embedded | Microsoft Azure

A Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license is needed for publishing content to a Power BI app workspace.
Only P SKUs and F SKUs equivalent to a F64 SKU or higher, allow free Power BI users to consume Power BI apps and shared content in Power BI service. Smaller SKUs require a Pro license to consume Power BI content.

    Best regards.

      Thanks for your reply

then if i understand well , i can plan a range time in azure portal  to run the capacity  and un-run it outside this time range

But if i have powerbi user with no licence , can he access and powerbi application shared with him in the range time where the capacity is not running  ?
in the documentation , to have user with no powerbi licence we need a capacity licence

      thanks for your help
