Hi Team, help needed
We are currently working on a Power BI tenant migration from INFY to TATA.
Current Architecture:
All users (INFY: tom@infy.com, TATA: raja@tata.com) are in the INFY tenant.
Their OneDrive/SharePoint and Power BI reports are in the INFY tenant.
We have both Pro and Premium workspaces in the INFY tenant.
Migration Plan:
Users and their SharePoint/OneDrive will move to the TATA tenant.
Power BI reports will remain in the INFY tenant.
Question:
Once a user (e.g., raja@tata.com) logs into the TATA tenant Power BI Service and switches directory to INFY tenant, will they be able to:
Access Pro workspaces in the INFY tenant?
Access Premium workspaces in the INFY tenant?
Do we need to provide any special permission or access setup for these users to continue accessing the reports?
Note: Users from TATA will be B2B guests/member in Infy tenant.
Thanks in advance for your guidance!
Solved! Go to Solution.
In a tenant migration where users move from INFY to TATA tenant but Power BI reports remain in the INFY tenant, TATA users who are added as B2B guest users in INFY can access both Pro and Premium workspaces in INFY after switching directories in Power BI Service.
For Pro workspaces, these users need a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license (either from their home tenant or assigned in INFY) along with appropriate workspace permissions.
For Premium workspaces, users can view content with a free license if they only have viewer access; however, editing or publishing requires a Pro/PPU license.
Ensure that INFY Power BI admins have granted guest users workspace roles and enabled external collaboration features, including allowing guest users to edit/manage content if needed.
Users simply log in, switch to the INFY tenant directory, and their access will depend on license assignments and permissions configured in INFY.
Yes, users from TATA tenant will be able to access both Pro and Premium workspaces in the INFY tenant after migration.
Requirements:
Add TATA users (raja@tata.com) as B2B guests in INFY Azure AD
Assign them appropriate workspace roles in INFY tenant
Users will need to switch directories to INFY tenant in Power BI Service
This setup will maintain access to all existing reports and workspaces.

Hi @YashikaAgrawal
Complex scanrio , but trying to answer to the specific questions here. Assuming the user raja@tata.com has pro license assigned to him and added as B2B guest in Infy tenant,
1. Yes, he will be able to access pro workspaces in INFY tenant.
2. Yes, he can access the premium workspaces in INFY tenant(Free license is enough for view only access).
3. Please make sure, the user has Pro license , assigned to B2B guests in Azure AD (Infy tenant) and granted permission to access pro and premium workspaces.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Raj
Hey @YashikaAgrawal ,
I recommend that you seek a consultant who can assist you with the migration.
A tenant migration/merger is not an easy thing.

Tom
