Publishing to web and security

Hello,

I understand that publishing to web allows anyone with acess to the link to the report to view that report.

I would like to embed the report on a site where access to the site would be restricted, and therefore access to the report also restricted.

However, I want to make sure that "published to the web (public)" doesn't mean that the report is publicly listed somewhere. Someone does *need* to know the full URL to get access to this, right?

Now is there a way to remove the sharing icon from the embedded code? There's no need to incentivise data sharing outside the organisation with such buttons:

Hi, @benjamin_sasin

Firstly, Publish to web currently does not support restrictions. Instead, I suggest you use embed to website.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-embed-secure

Secondly, you cannot the remove sharing icon from the website. Without using the button, viewers is also able to share the published report with URL link.

Hi Paul,

Embed is sure nice, but it requires viewers to have a pro license. So that’s really not practical if one wants to share data with various stakeholders who will use the dash of sporadically or casually. We cannot possibly have a yearly subscription for every potential viewer internal or external.

I should probably have read these conditions before buying a license, but I expect more from Power BI for 12 USD a month. (Now I’m better off sending spreadsheets around).
