Publishing to PowerBI Service best practice
Hi All,
When publishing to the PowerBI service one issue that we are having and I have seen others have is the settings for datasets.
There are a few of us in our group that publish to the same workspaces and set up the schedules for refreshes. What is really annoying is that if the person is away, we are unable to see what confiurations have been set, so if I take over, I lose everything and I have to take a guess at what was set. We have started to document these configurations, so that we can take over if we have to, but this really seems like a goofy workaround.
We are now wondering if we should look at using a shared service account, which I do not normally like this practice for many reasons, but it seems to be the only way. Is anyone else using this method? If not, how do you get around this issue?
I have tried looking for this on this site and youtube (mainly GuyInACube), but I cannot find something specific about this.
Any thoughts or suggestions on references would be greatly appriciated.

This is one area that concerns every Power BI developer team and I'm afraid the only way out right now is shared account. Again this is not preferable but is the only way for multiple people to manage schedules and subscriptions.

TheTick - Seems like you either need to setup your permissions to the Workspace so that everyone is Admin (the people Publishing), are you all just Contributors? Or yes, the other way is a service account for publishing.

I went to the ideas page and voted for a couple that seem to be asking for this. Concerning that one is from over a year ago and it is still marked as "New".

This is really a much needed ability in Power BI. Without it, ,there is just too much dependability on individuals. Aganin, these are such features which are very critical from providing better solutions to end user perspective too.
Not sure when MS Power BI team is going to come up with a solution for this.
Also, can you provide links to the ideas so that others can view and vote?
Any idea if this is somewhere near in the new release pipelines? This is is certainly a much needed functionality still missing in Power BI resulting on over-dependability on individuals.
