Publishing a Power BI and needing to Re share a New Link

I am having difficulty when sharing a Power BI with a client and it seems that when I update the desktop version and republish it under the same name it creates a new link. Does this mean that every time I change something to the app that I have to reshare a link with them? Is there a way in which I can make a change to the power BI, publish it under the same name and the link stays the same for the client.

Currently I have shared it with them and I had to change a few cosmetic aspects of the app so I published it again to the workspace. However, on doing this the original link I shared with them does not work and it requires me sending a new link with them.

Can i publish this updated version without changing the link they get?

Hi!

Currently sharing this by 'Share report' and managing permissions to read only. We are giving this to a guest user who we have bought a power bi pro license for so they are in our active directory, even though being an external client to the company - hope this makes sense!

You can remind the user that the can get in Power Bi and check "Shared with me" option to look at the reports. In addition, the sharable link shouldn't change and in case it does, go directly to the report with your account and copy the link when you are on the report. It should look like this:

https://app.powerbi.com/groups/[big id number]/reports/[big id number]

That one won't change for sure. Share thatone with the user.

Let's hope it's not an issue because they are external users.

Regards,

Hi! can you explain "how" are you sharing? we need to unserstand the steps you have followed to share.

The link to a report won't change when you publish and replace it. That is the behaviour. It will only change if you delete the report from service and publish again.
