Publishing Reports to Web with Data Connected to Database - Security Concerns?

We are preparing to publish a PBI report (to the web to share with our community) that connects directly to our live database. There are dozens of connections from that database into this report that allow us to pull each page's tables, graphs, and lists. Would anyone on the internet be able to access all that data when we publish our report to the web? If so, is there some way to lock it or protect that data? I'm struggling to understand data security with PBI - there are so many things to consider. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi @cbarber ,

May I ask if you have solved the problem? If it has been solved, consider accepting the helpful answer as a solution so that more people with similar problems can find it. If the problem has not been solved, please feel free to ask us questions for help.

Best Regards,

Ada Wang

I really didn't get an answer that matched my original question. I THINK that I have figured out that it is protected at least as far as the visual, but I wouldn't say that I trust that answer as a solution for others.

Hi @cbarber

Of course Publish to Web (public) is risky. Anyone on the internet can visualize your data(Check my website below).

The only way to secure and protect your data is sharing your report to user with Pro licenses or purshase Premium capacity for Free Licenses users.
