Published workbook not displaying refreshed data from semantic model but local workbook does

* We are currently utilizing Alteryx to create and deposit output to a semantic model in a defined workspace on our PBI service.

* The data is sourced simply from tables on SQL servers; pretty straightforward.

* That semantic model is used as the data source (direct query) for the local desktop workbook.

* Per usual, columns and measures are created for the report in the desktop workbook.

* This desktop workbook is then published to the PowerBI service, which, at this time there exist no Gateways in our environment.

* In doing so, it is published with its own semantic model.

* Each Sunday, for Monday morning consumption, Alteryx is run and the new output is written over the existing semantic model on the PBI service.

* The updated information IS represented in the local PBI workbook as its data source having been updated - no refresh or further action needed, its just there upon opening the file.

* However, the new refreshed/updated information is not reflected in the published PBI workbook

* To work around this, I have to manually republish the local workbook to overwrite the published one in order for the new data to show in the dashboard.

IDEALLY this would not have to happen - the refresh of the semantic data model would automatically be reflected in the published workbook. We don't want to be in the business of having to manually update our reports.

WHY is this happening - that the updated data is visible in the local workbook but not the published one?

Also note that the "refresh visuals" option on the published workbook changes nothing in this instance.

Any ideas, suggestions, or solutions would be appreciated. ~ Michelle
