Published App not able to analyze content

Hello everyone,

I have a published app and would like to download it to analyze the content in Power BI Desktop. Why is this app (white icon) only showing me the option "löschen" in english = delete?

With the other app, I have several options.

I can also download the app from the report, make settings, manage permissions, and edit them. Why doesn't that work with the first one?

Hi @freddy21,

The reason that the published app has icon only delete might be a packaged content type rather than a full-fledged app.

Here's a description of the situation and potential solutions:

Possible Reasons:

  • Packaged Content: Published apps can be configured as reports or dashboards with limited functionalities. This "white icon" app might be a packaged report, hence the lack of options like download, settings, etc.
  • Permissions: Your user account might not have the necessary permissions to manage or download the app in Power BI Desktop.

Solutions:

  1. Check App Type: In Power BI Service, navigate to the app workspace and open the app. Look for details about the app type. If it's a report, you won't have extensive options in Power BI Desktop.
  2. Verify Permissions: In Power BI Service, check your user role for the app workspace. Ensure you have "Build" or "Admin" permissions to download and analyze the app content.

If you find this insightful, please provide a Kudo and accept this as a solution.
