Publish on web Error 403
Hi SuperBrigoz2
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft forum Community.
Since your data is visible in Power BI Service and your app, but you're encountering a 403 error only when using "Publish to web," this issue is likely related to data source permissions, privacy settings, or security restrictions.
Please follow these below steps to troubleshoot:
- Using "Publish to web" will make your report publicly accessible and enforce stricter data security checks. Please ensure there are no row-level security (RLS) or dataset permissions that restrict public access
- Open Power BI Desktop, navigate to File, then Options and Settings, and select Data Source Settings. Set the Privacy Level to either Public or Organizational.
- Please ensure that the account used to connect to SQL Server is granted read access to the view.
- Since you are not using a refresh gateway at the moment, that is perfectly fine. However, if you need automatic data refresh in the future, a refresh gateway will be required.
- To enable the "Publish to Web" option in the Power BI Admin Portal, please navigate to the Admin Portal, select Tenant Settings, and ensure the "Publish to Web" setting is activated.

thank's collinq but I'm a beginner and I dont't understand. Data are visible in Power Services and inside the app I have created, the problem appears only when I try to publish on the web. The data source is the same...or not? At the moment I haven't a refresh gateway, original dataset it's composed by 2 Excel files and a SQL server view.
