Publish from Power bi report builder
The report is working properly in local laptop and I can "run" the report properly.
The data source is in Azure SQLMI.
Then, publish to the app.powerbi.com without issue
However, I got the following error when I open the RDL report from the app.powerbi.com
Could not connect to the data source.
There was an error contacting an underlying data source. Manage your credentials or gateway settings on the management page. Please verify that the data source is available, your credentials are correct and that your gateway settings are valid.
Then I follow the instruction, I trying to edit Credential , however, with following error.
I am using a Premium Per User Trial. Is it a reason why I cannot publish ?

Hi daniel-chow ,
i don't think that your gateway data connection is correct. I believe you have to only put in the name of the server and not the "data source...". I would expect something like "sqlserver" in the connection. Take a look at this document to step through it and confirm that all is well:

Hi Collinq,
My data source is from Azure sqlmi but not on-premises sql. So should I still need to configure the gateway ?
In addition, I tried to publish .pbix report by Power Bi Desktop to app.powerbi.com, there is NO connection issue. Given that both (powerbi desktop & powerbi report builder) are using the same query and connecting to the same Azure sqlmi. It is strange for me.- collinq

Hi daniel-chow ,
The Azure SQLMI is cloud based, right? Then, theoretically you do not need a gateway.
You should take a look at these threads and see if that is helpful:
