Public report performance things to considering

Hi, I have a public embedded report and plan to use this in Android/Apple app (not Power BI app).

Will I need a Premium/Premium Gen2 subscription? What things should I consider for performance, say there will be 1000 concurrent users. They will will not refresh data. The .pbix size is 25 MB.

Thanks

Hi @F75 ,

According to the description in the official article,to view the embedded report, users need either a Power BI Pro license or the content needs to be in a workspace that's in a Power BI Premium capacity (EM or P SKU) .

And a ll of the Power BI Embedded Gen 1 capabilities such as pausing and resuming the capacity, are preserved in Gen 2. In addition, the Gen 2 capacity resource provides the following updates and improved experience:

  • Enhanced performance - Better performance on any capacity size, anytime. Operations will always perform at top speed and won't slow down when the load on the capacity approaches the capacity limits.

  • Greater scale - Including the following enhancements:

    • No limits on refresh concurrency - You no longer need to track schedules for datasets being refreshed on your capacity

    • Fewer memory restrictions

    • Complete separation between report interaction and scheduled refreshes

  • Lower entry level for paginated reports and AI workloads – Start with an A1 SKU and grow as you need.

  • Scaling a resource instantly - Instantly scale your Power BI Embedded resource. From scaling a Gen1 resource in minutes, to scaling a Gen2 resource in seconds.

  • Scaling without downtime - With Embedded Gen2 you can scale your Power BI Embedded resource without experiencing any downtime.

  • Improved metrics - Including clear and normalized capacity utilization data, depending only on the complexity of the analysis operations the capacity performs. Metrics are not impacted by other factors such as the size of the capacity, and the level of load on the system while performing analytics. When using the improved metrics, the built-in reporting tool allows you to clearly see:

    • Utilization analysis
    • Budget planning
    • Chargebacks
    • The need to upgrade your capacity

To learn more details ,you could read the below:

Power BI Embedded Generation 2 (preview)

Enable Premium Gen2 to take advantage of its updates. To enable Premium Gen2, take the following steps:

  1. In the admin portal, navigate to Capacity settings.
  2. Select Power BI Premium.
  3. If you have already allocated capacity, select it.
  4. A section appears titled Premium Generation 2 (preview), and in that section is a slider to enable Premium Generation 2 (preview).
  5. Move the slider to Enabled.

The following image shows how to enable Premium Gen2.

Hi @F75

If you are embedding and using the A,P or EM SKU I think that it would be fine and soon everything will be on the Premium Gen2 which will make things faster?
