Hi,
i am struggling with some questions about the workflow of Power BI.
We create the Data model, the measures and Fields and some sketches of the visuals inside Power BI Desktop. The Data we connect to is local Data. The Idea now is, to publish it into Power BI Service and to give some contributors the possibility to change the look or whatever they wanna do, and publish this to our customer via an app.
When we now do some updates in the report or at the datamodel or add some new measures via desktop (pbix); is it somehow possible to update it to the power bi service without destroying the work the others did inside of power bi service?
because if we do some changes at the pbix file, we always have to replace it in order to publish it to power bi. and so we are not able to just update the report, or Dataset inside of power bi service.
And another thing.
If you create a datamodel with calculated dax fields and measures etc in Power BI Desktop.
Is it possible to other Power BI DESKTOP users to connect to this data to work on the visual part, and/or create new measures by themselves? the functionality in Desktop is much more finished as in power bi service.
How do you manage this things?
thanks for your answers.

Hi @elaj ,
Once user A republish a dataset, the changes user B made will be covered. If user B make a copy of the dataset this won't happen on the copied dataset but whatever changes user A do on the origin dataset will not effect the copied dataset any more.

You will want to look at ALM Toolkit for some finer meta data management control.
For the other questions consider shared datasets and XMLA endpoint access.
