When we upload an excel file and click on it, since a few days ago it does not allow us to preview it and returns the following.
"Cannot open workbook".
¨Sorry. We could not open the workbook. You can try reopening the file; sometimes that solves the problem".
It happens with excel, in any tenant, does anyone know why it happens?
Thank you very much
No solution to add, but just wanted to echo the sentiments of the OP. We have the exact same issue. Began last week with the updates made to the service. The Excel files work locally, on SharePoint, Teams, etc., but will not open in the PBI service. Even tried creating super basic "test" emails with one or two cells of random data with the same result. Hope Microsoft comes up with a solution soon.
There could be several reasons why you are unable to preview Excel files in your tenant. One possibility is that the file may be corrupted or not properly formatted. Another possibility is that there may be compatibility issues between the version of Excel you are using and the version of Excel that the file was created in.
We recommend trying to open the file in a local version of Excel to see if it opens properly. If it does not, you may want to try repairing or reformatting the file. Alternatively, you can try uploading the file in a different format, such as CSV or Google Sheets, and see if you are able to preview it.
If none of these solutions work, you may want to contact Microsoft support for further assistance in troubleshooting the issue.
Hello,
The excel opens normally on local, and even on web, it is in the service where it does not load.
We have tried in 6 tenant with different excel and the same thing happens, in all, same message, it happens since a few days ago.
Hi,
It seems like there might be an issue with the Excel Online service. You can try a few things to see if it resolves the problem:
Hopefully, one of these steps will resolve the issue. If not, contacting Microsoft support is the best way to get to the root of the problem.
