Print Layout on Published Paginated Report Changing Formatting

Hi all, I created a report in Report Builder and published to the BI online service.

When I click Print Layout in the online service, it shifts the margins so that a text box shifts and the bottom line moves to a 2nd page.

When I am in Report Builder and click Print Layout everything is correct.

Screen shots attached of both Print Layouts.

The font used is a simple Arial Narrow. I have checked all of print numbers in Report Builder. I don't understand why it works in Report Builder, but not the published service.

From what I have gathered, each renderer (PDF, excel, word) renders the paginated reports differently. While I was creating the report, I would run it in Report Builder and directly "print" to PDF to see if it looked ok, and it did look ok.  However, when I exported to PDF, it would not look the same. Since I need to publish this to BI and BI does not give the option to direct print to PDF (you must export), I resolved to just published it to BI each time after I made an adjustment and clicked export to PDF to see how it looked. Thank you all for your help!

The same issue happens whether I export as PDF from Report Builder or export as PDF from the published report through the online service. It seems to be an issue specifically when rendering to Adobe PDF. So, I don't understand why rendering a PDF causes the issue.

Hi @kmaynard ,

Based on your description, I created a paginated report:

Report Builder view is as follows:

When I publish to service and export as pdf, it reproduces your problem:

It's really annoying when you encounter such a situation, you can solve this problem by resizing the text box.

Neither Power BI Desktop nor Power BI Service give any rendering guarantee.  Do you see the same issue when exporting to PDF from the service?
