Hello all,
I'm hoping that I can get some advice on the matter here.
We have a SaaS environment with 150+ different customer databases. Each one has the same schema; just their own data.
I'm wondering how we can create one "master" dataset template and then push that schema out to each customer's workspace for it to create and populate with their data. I researched this and keep seeing how-to send it to the App Marketplace but this does not seem like what I'm after.
Have any of you faced this situation before? I'm looking for any advice on this topic in order to make handling this rollout/management of so many datasets a little easier.
Thank you for your time.

Hi @letsgobro
Thanks for your reply.
Current Power BI only support publish to one workspace, I'd like to suggest you to submit an idea. Of course, you can also take a look at this link to duplicate reports by using REST API.

@letsgobro Hi, did you ever find a solution for this? I'm trying to figure out someting similiar but have one database but with multiple workspaces.
The deployment pipelines looked promising with the parameters but you can only assign a workspace to one pipeline.
The next approach is to just use powershell to update the customer workspaces based on a change to the master workspace
Hi @letsgobro
Not very sure what your are searching for, could you add more details?
FYI: Power BI guidance documentation - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
Perhaps this will help.

Thanks for the link. I've went through those before and took another look in case I missed something. I guess is what I am looking for is a way to roll out this template file in mass. I am hoping that there is a way or tool that can deploy the template and assign server/database for each workspace as opposed to doing it one at a time customer by customer. The vast majority of them live on 1 database server and they each have their own database. Same schema, just different data.
All the tutorials or information regarding templates I can find just tells you how to save one and/or create it as a template app in the marketplace.
Long story short, I'd like to deploy my pbit file easily to hundreds of workspaces so that the dataset can populate with each customers data. 🙂
Thank you for your time.
